Description
It's no secret the Bruins are looking for a Center next season. Options are thin, but one can dream.

Personally, I prefer Scheifele over Lindholm but I obviously would be happy with both. With Coyle and Ullmark both having NTC's it's hard to center the trade around either of the because it's hard to believe either of them would waive for WPG. DeBrusk has no type of trade clause and I feel like he'd be another nice add into their young core for the little re-tool they're going through. PLUS, he's a Western-Canadien boy. Harrison was about a P/GP player in the last two season in the O and is AHL ready for the upcoming season and Merkulov is a fringe-NHLer that WPG could use as a center or a wing.

This is my take on what a trade would look like, thoughts? Too much or Not Enough for Scheif.

Not enough for Scheifele especially with retention, those prospects have minimal value, the Jets gain pretty much nothing here for a 40 goal scoring center, would prefer to keep him then trade him for a return like this.

Winnipeg passes, DeBrusk isn't enough and the rest is weak. I seriously doubt Boston has much to offer in trades for either Lindholm or Scheifele seeing that they don't even have a 1st round pick until 2025.

About right, as much as it hurts to say. If we look at comps, the last 3 big Center trades were PLD, Horvat, and Eichel. None of these 3 match up with moving Schieffle (a 30+ year old on an expiring deal who isn't going to resign), as PLD wanted out but is young, Horvat was mid season, and Eichel had a monstrous contract. But for each of these, the return was about that same as here: a young NHLer, a prospect close to the league, a decent prospect, and a high round pick.

Schieffle being older and with retention about makes this package comparable to other deals like it. But I don't think the Bs would do it. Losing DeBrusk would require a center who has more good years on the team. Hence why the team allegedly likes Lindholm more.

BOS easily declines, that's too much going out the door for BOS to feel comfortable with.
