Because you have an actual team, unlike the 2022-23 Blue Jackets who were a collection of injuries and ECHLers in a trenchcoat, manged by a buffoon. Peeke in a proper role with support is not a -41 defenseman. Peeke being forced into 25 minutes a night in front of a dreadful goalie behind a group of forwards who wouldn't even play on this year's Sharks (plus Johnny Gaudreau) was not playing his proper role. A mid-round pick is fine.

Cheers thanx for the insight.Sounds like he could be a good pick up then.

Of course! I wish him well. He’s just not out-competing the need to play Gudbranson because of contract so far (and surprisingly, Gudbranson hasn’t been bad… wouldn’t say good but he hasn’t been a negative), and the Jackets also have Severson and Jiricek. Peeke is a perfectly serviceable big body who stays healthy and blocks shots. He just can’t handle too pair minutes, and that’s okay. He doesn’t make that much money, especially once the cap goes up. He’s just simply run out of runway in Columbus.
