Description
The Flames suck, and that's a good thing. After years of try to squeeze into the playoffs so Murray Edwards can cash in on two playoff home games. The mediocrity has shown what this team really is. Garbage.

The Calgary Flames desperately need a rebuild in order to bring in some actual potential superstar talent. I do believe Wolf is the only prospect with that potential in our current pipeline, but even then, I'm hesitant to give him that since goalies are so weird. I also don't think that this is a personnel issue as well, I believe it also comes down to the way the Flames execute their gameplan on the ice.

With that being said, here is my approach to rebuilding the Calgary Flames.

Zadorov decreased his value by stating he wants out of Calgary; I still think he can return okay value if we take a bad contract back.

Tanev seems perfect for Jersey, I also read from a Devils beat writer that Holtz is disappointed with his usage under Lindy, he seems like a player that could use a change of scenery. Reminds me of Lindholm who struggled out the gate in Carolina but found his game here in YYC.

Lindholm to Colorado makes so much sense to me, I saw another ACGM with this trade but without Johansen. This trade would result in Lindholm extending as well, and the Avs lock in their 2C behind Nate dawg. Flames get a decent center prospect and the all-important first round pick. Flames also retain for the final year of this deal. I think this is a good Bo Horvat comparable.

Vladar is weird, he hasn't been great, and I personally don't know how the Flames approach this other than he gets traded to a team desperate for a goalie or placed on waivers. At this point you have to make room for Wolf.

I personally think the most valuable commodity on this roster is Hanifin. 26-year old top 4 defenseman with 600 games under their belt don't come around very often and I think he can bring in a very good return, especially with an extension included. I believe Freidman mentioned the Coyotes have been looking into Hanifin for about a week, don't know if that's still the case, but I think a trade makes sense. Barnburner mentions Dylan Guenther would be a great return (it would), but let's be real, no shot Arizona is looking to move him. I think it's the same format as Chychrun and Hamonic (Islanders & Flames) trades.

Let me know what you all think.

The Flames in the end bring in:

Calum Ritchie
Seamus Casey
Alexander Holtz
Aatu Raty

You're out of your mind on that devils trade Casey tied for the lead of NCAA scoring as a 19 year old D plus Holtz on top of that

I would not pay that for Zadorov from Canucks POV. If you are gonna trade Raty and picks it should be for a better player.

I agree that in general, a players stock drops when they ask for a trade. I don't see it being very detrimental in this instance.

First off, he's a UFA on a struggling team, he was already being pursued prior to him officially asking. He was basically on the market already, all he did was make it official.

Second, him asking out has generated a lot of interest, competition may have driven the price up. At the very least it let Conroy walk from the table knowing deals will be there and will likely keep coming in.
