Trades
1.
NYI
  1. Gustavsson, Filip
  2. 2024 1st round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
Last year
MIN
  1. Nelson, Brock
Additional Details:
MN native. Not sure if this gets Gus on top of the 1st but cap wise MN probably needs it and Gus is having a pretty bad start to this year. MIN just spent the 20th overall pick on Jesper Wallstedt. He is their goalie of the future.
2.
NYI
  1. Draisaitl, Leon
  2. Skinner, Stuart
Additional Details:
Happens in the offseason but before Sorokin's NMC kicks in
EDM
  1. Sorokin, Ilya
  2. Varlamov, Semyon
Additional Details:
EDM lands a franchise goalie. Islanders land a franchise C and gives flexibility to the top-6. Would need to happen before Sorokin's NMC kicks in.

Added Varlamov to this for fun because he says he has no problem backing up Sorokin for the rest of his career. EDM has to figure out their own problem with Jack Campbell though
3.
NYI
  1. 2024 3rd round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
Offseason trade
NSH
  1. Pageau, Jean-Gabriel
Additional Details:
Predators have a decent amount of cap space next summer and Trotz gets a familiar face that he really liked on Long Island. The Preds center depth isn't the deepest. Could be a 3C guy and PK for them

This isn't intended to diminish Sorokin because he's one of the few truly elite goalies, but I'm quite confident that Draisaitl would have a good deal more value than him (assuming an extension is in-place). I also don't think there's a world in which EDM would trade Drai and only receive goalies back.

I get Islanders fans won't like it but the only way that deal goes through is if it's Campbell going the other way instead of Skinner.

A top 5 player is a lot more valuable than a top 1-3 goalie.

No thanks on Pageau. NSH actually has pretty good center depth (O'Reilly, Glass, Pärssinen, Sissons, & Foudy, even without possibly re-signing any UFAs like Novak, Jankowski, McCarron). It's just a true #1 center they lack, but that's not Pageau.

Minnesota declines. Doesn't fit their timeline, they don't have the cap space, and it's really not all that enticing anyway.

I mean you're not wrong. If taking on Campbell means we get Draisaitl, I'd sign up real fast.
