This is mostly fine but I dont know if NJD springs for a RD with term just because dougie is injured for a while. Would also like to see us add a quality forward in FA, even if its just a vet on a short term deal.

Devils are not interested in Katchouk or Murphy and definitely aren't paying a 1st for a bunch of depth pieces

Jiricek will be a top 10 pick. 2 1sts in the 20's (maybe 1 in the 30's) is not getting you a top 10 pick

Interesting. I wouldn't mind making a deal like that last one. Not sure that is enough for a retained Murphy, though, let alone with taking Vanacek back and sending Katchouk. I think CHI would be well served going after quality right now and partnering up with a team looking for quantity. Not sure if that team would be CGY, though. But there aren't many teams with multiple 1st's in 2024 right now.

That said, I think KD is fine with spreading picks out and taking the slow and steady approach to the rebuild. All we need is one or two late 1st or 2nd round picks to outperform their draft year projections for the slow and steady to make more sense. More quality vs higher quality. It's a gamble. But, Knies was a 2nd round pick. Snuggerud was a 23rd overall pick. Aho was a 2nd round pick. So, it happens more often than people think, as well as guys in the first round turning out to be busts or having much smaller NHL roles than originally predicted.
