a) can't retain more than 50%
b) Vancouver can retain only one more time
c) Sedins are not going anywhere

This would not happen, 1 the sedins are old and not as good as they once were, but to trade for them would still cost a team. 2 the sedins have made an official announcment that they are finishing their carrers in vancouver, and nowhere else.

If the Sedin's move to the Pens it's at the trade deadline, at which point their cap hits are ~$1.5 mil. They only go if they demand a trade specifically to a team for a Cup, which they've said they won't do.

That said, Pens aren't going to mortgage the future for the Sedin's either, especially with it being almost guaranteed it's only for the rest of the year. I'm not ready to dismiss that they get Cup fever & want a trade for the playoffs, but it's premature to think it will be the Pens at that point as well.

If it does happen: Pens get cap relief and move Hags, two 3rd round picks with condition to 2nd if they make the Cup finals.

Too bad you're still way over the cap.
