Sharks have a logjam on LD.

Ferraro (unless hes traded is 20min a night minimum)
Okho (traded for him and hes been great, needs to improve to have a fulltime NHL career and be impactful but for now hes top4)
Addison is played LD a few times (traded for)
Henry Thrun (traded for)
Shakir (Traded for)
--- Broberg fits here ---
Pulli
Cicek

San Jose Only has playing time for Broberg if they trade Ferraro, and even then Thrun and Shakir are ahead of Broberg easily.

Thrun - Emerbson
Okho - Addison
Rutta - Burroughs - Benning - Broberg

Not exactly a great situation for him if you also consider Shakirs is knocking on the door.

Youre putting Broberg in another bad situation.
And his value is low, disgruntled, fringe, hasnt shown anything special.
His value is probably similar to the Addison trade value MIN got and EDM fans wont be happy with that. One could argue its a little higher due to age maybe, but Addison had a reusme - Broberg doesnt really - and Broberg is 22 (Addison is 23).

Damn… On the point here!
I would argue if the ask is low enough or if he is part of a bigger package I don’t mind competition and if he proves himself it only makes the sharks better!
But I wouldn’t give up much for him right now.

Exactly. If San Jose does acquire Broberg they risk affecting Thrun to the highest degree (Shakirs fine).
So you're only doing so if the cost is similarly a 5th and like Raska (or I'd do Sasha Chmelevski if he wont resign in SJS).

I don't necessarily think Broberg fits with the Sharks as an option. But looking a their team, maybe something around Zadina? Money would be an issue on the Oilers end then. So probably won't work.

One thing I will say that most people haven't been mentioning is that Broberg can play RD. He's split at both and looked comparable on the right. Obviously, it's not his natural spot but teams with a logjam of LD can rationalize a trade and play him on the right side. In the sharks case, I'd put him above Benning/Addison on the right,
