When St. Louis signed Krug in free agency, they did so knowing the back end of that contract was going to be negative.

Just to give context, the difference between Kevin Shattenkirk and Torey Krug isn’t 2.4m/year. I don’t believe a 3rd round pick and Nikita Alexandrov makes up that difference. Love that Krug got paid, but he’s a negative contract from here on out. One that St.Lous probably needs to keep for another few years or trade in a swap of bad contracts
