A top 5 pick for Rust?! LOL

No shot you think this happens even if the NHL moves to Mars

1st round pick for Rust may be a reasonable evaluation. But Anaheims is a top 5 pick. They will not be the ones making that trade. A late 1st at the deadline, sure. But you chose the wrong team and the wrong pick.

No one is paying a 1st for Rust. He has an NMC, giving him full control over if and where he goes, which severely diminishes PIT's bargaining power.

CHI is not paying a 2nd for Rakell, and honestly I doubt any team would. 4 years $5M for an older player that is showing some real signs of decline... But maybe there is a team that has the space and a use for him.

Anaheim's 2024 first is virtually guaranteed to be in the top 5, and is their ticket to the Macklin Celebrini sweepstakes. The Ducks won't be trading it for any player on the Pittsburgh roster.

Not arguing about teams being hesitant to take Rakell, but I think you're reading his stat line as decline when in reality, he's just streaky as hell. Used to go this **** all the time I'm Anaheim, always drove us nuts.
