Description
Poitras moves back down for the OHL to get more minutes and then comes up as a black ace during the playoffs. If Monty is not going to play him consistent minutes, it might be best for him plus I think it preserves a year before arbitration.

Lysell is playing team oriented hockey and probably deserves a chance to show what he can do. Top 6 talent who can really change the makeup of our top line with his speed.

Regula deserves a shot. Hes shown real ability down in Providence and is the type of physical presence a lot of people want to trade for, he comes in as a backup for injuries. My guess is we continue with a 22 man roster, but I do kind of like that we have Lohrei if there is a LD injury and I would like to see if Regula is as good as he looks.

In theory - sold.

Here's where it gets tricky. it's not like they can try this, determine it doesn't work, and then revert back. There has to be a plan in place if Lysell isn't ready. He probably isn't, the guy did just turn 21 the other week. There's really only nine or 10 guys from that draft class that have been proven to be sure thing NHLers. Then there needs to be a plan if he's not ready, and someone gets hurt. Essentially, I think this can happen in conjunction with a move to pick up a depth forward.

My perspective is this should happen before they acquire a depth forward to see where he is at. It’s a test for the kid. If he fails, you are pretty much in the same position you are in today. If not, you have more flexibility at the trade deadline.

not really. i feel like at this point you know poitras can at least be passable. he can take 8-10 minutes at minimum. lysell could come up and look great for a week and then fall apart.
