Why would the Flames be at all interested in this? Conroy wants younger players, so no interest in brodie. Samsonov is a cap dump. The only thing of value is the 1st round pick and as we learned today is the asking price for just Tanev.

That's a massive overpay for Markstrom and Tanev. Samsonov has played well lately, so the Leafs will keep him.
Why do so many think Tanev is the saviour? Same with Luby. Is he better than Timmins, maybe but not first pairing for sure.

No. That wouldn't get Tanev alone far less Markstrom too. Brodie and Samsonov are cap dumps even if you take both of them out it's not enough for Tanev. Adding a couple low end prospects doesn't change anything.

You're kidding aren't you. Samsonov is hardly a cap dump as his contract ends this June. Samsonov has played well recently, I don't see the benefit to the Leafs at all getting Markstrom
Look at the Lindholm trade, all the Flames really caught was a first, and had take Kuzmenko contract for this year and next.
