Description
With the trades I have made in this team I’m not convinced it’s the answer to winning a Stanley Cup however, I believe the trades put the Maple Leafs in a better position now with added depth scoring, a more solid top line RD and some added puck movement from defence. The deals also put the team in a better position for following years by removing bad contracts and having more control financially.

There’s still over $1M left in cap space on this roster which could be utilised further however with the Maple Leafs not looking to trade their top prospects and my trades removing all of the early draft picks, a more complicated trade would probably be required which may need to wait until the trade deadline in case anyone new becomes available.

The Cap space leftover also allows for one more player to be called up from the Marlies as this roster only has 22 players currently.
Trades
1.
TOR
  1. 2024 3rd round pick (CAR)
CAR
  1. Jones, Martin
Additional Details:
With this deal I’m trying to sell high on Jones, there may be potential to get more if teams start fighting over him. This deal would have to wait though and see how Woll is when he comes back from injury.
2.
TOR
  1. 2025 4th round pick (NYR)
CHI
  1. Brodie, TJ ($1,000,000 retained)
  2. Reaves, Ryan
  3. Timmins, Conor
Additional Details:
I see this deal as Toronto clearing salary cap and contracts for the next couple of years. Chicago add usable players with term and possibly being able to flip Brodie at the trade deadline for more than the 4th given up in this trade, the Leafs also retain $1M to help with a future trade.
3.
TOR
  1. Duehr, Walker
  2. Tanev, Christopher
  3. 2024 4th round pick (NJD)
CGY
  1. Gregor, Noah
  2. 2024 1st round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
With this trade Toronto would reluctantly have to give up the 1st round pick. Since the Leafs wouldn’t require salary retention I’ve added a 4th from the Flames, a conditional pick being the worst of their two available. Gregor and Duehr are just a swap from a left winger to right winger to balance out the fourth line and potentially give both players a fresh start in a new city, Duehr also has 1 more year left after this season at a manageable cap hit.
4.
ARI
  1. Kämpf, David
  2. 2024 6th round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
The reasoning behind this move is to give Toronto more flexibility by taking away 4 years of Kampf. This move gives Arizona a player with term at a reasonable cap hit while trading Voracek, a player who is owed $7.5M this season helps a team that struggles financially. Voracek’s value can easily be consumed by the Maple Leafs organisation.
5.
PHI
  1. Niemelä, Topi
  2. 2024 3rd round pick (NYI)
  3. 2026 1st round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
By clearing cap space and roster spots from earlier trades, this move allows the Maple Leafs to and a couple of Flyers who can hopefully add more than the outgoing players. The max rumoured ask for Walker is a 2nd and trade ideas of Frost and a pick for Robertson have led me to come up with what I see as fair value. I would like to keep Robertson in my Roster and have added Niemela, a right handed defence prospect instead.

Canes pass. Martin's not that good, and he's not worth a 3rd

Philadelphia is on the upswing and might make the playoffs this season. As a result, I don't see them trading Morgan Frost, who seems to be improving almost daily.

I could’ve picked from multiple teams, Carolina was just the team I ended up choosing. For his Cap hit and numbers this year I think a lot of people will be surprised at what he could bring in a trade.

The trade for Frost is due to him being on a number of trade boards, I wouldn’t be opposed to the 3rd being replaced with a prospect.
