Got to imagine the Sabres would say no. They are all about a contention window. Trading a 23 year old for a 27 year old just doesn't line up with what they are doing.

I am not so sure that's true. Marner is definitely way better than Cozens and likely will be for his entire career. But I would do it if I were the Leafs. Marner's comments today have me joining the anti Marner league.

Marner is better than Cozens but Cozens is on a better contract than Marner. He's going to earning close to half what Marner is on his next deal for the next 6 seasons. Comparing those players to each other is just dishonest without taking that into consideration. What you lose in the direct comparison, you can make up for with the extra cap space and the fact Cozens is likely not at his peak yet.
