Anaheim does not want Marner

We don’t want to pay to rent him for 1 year and we don’t want to pay him $12,000,000

Toronto would have to overpay to get Boston to help them out, I suspect. They can get that price elsewhere.

The Marner price is peanuts, on the other hand

Agree that no Marner rental 100%. Whether we’d be interested in him for $12M long term is debatable (but probably true we don’t). That said, we should at least concede that this is a very compelling offer value wise. Ignoring the $12M, getting Marner for Lacombe, 1 year of Vatrano, and a 2nd is a great value. To the point where leafs fans will very understandably hate this

Boston is not going to gift Toronto a solution to their largest problem for a 2026 first.

Guys, Verbeek s not paying a perimeter winger record breaking money, it's just not happening, Mariners too large a risk.

He'll help get us too the playoffs but he destroys the team salary structure and we'll end up in the same position as Toronto, always a brides maid, never the bride.
