Detroit would be WAY over the cap with that trade. They also wouldn't make it. They'll go into rebuild mode here in the next year or two. Larkin is one of their best prospects.

Detroit doesn't have the space to do Larkin for Yandle. Detroit values Larkin a lot more then they would value Yandle.

Ducks won't give up Steel, I think Murray wants to do a quick retool once the ducks top veterans start wearing down, not unlike San Jose. Players like Silfverberg, Rakell, Steel, Jones, Comtois, Morand, Kase, Ritchie, Terry, Larsson, and their current d-core/goaltending are going to end up being their new core group. With players like Getzlaf, Perry, and Kesler coming to the end of their contracts when those really young players hit their stride they'll end up being depth veterans like Thornton and Marleau were with San Jose for the longest time.
