Why would Vancouver want this trade? The Sens I think are strarting to regret the Duchene trade. I'd hold on to Brown if I'm them in case Duchene is a total bust. And there wouldn't be any picks involved especially a 1st. I'd do the trade if I'm Pittsburgh, but 1 for 1. Don't think Plekanec is a big enough upgrade to throw a pick in there also

1. Vancouver is facing a logjam at LD which has opened the discussion about Hutton being expendable. The Canucks are rebuilding and the return they would likely want is futures.

2. The Sens are not going to regret the Duchene after the first few games, don't be silly. With that trade they made it clear they're all in to win the cup in the next two years. Pacioretty is on a cheap contract until 2019, and while he probably won't re-sign with the Sens, he would be a good piece to acquire in order to win that cup as he's proven to be one of the league's most prolific goalscorers and seems like a good fit for Boucher's defensive tactics. The added first round pick might be a little greedy but the assumption is it's going to be a low one. I could make it a conditional one though depending on the Sens' success in 2018-19 season.

3. Plekanec is a clear upgrade over Sheahan which is why the picks are added. Yes, Sheahan is much younger but it's unlikely at this point that he would face much of a career resurgence and honestly I'm not even sure if the Habs should qualify him at the end of the season. He's mostly included in the deal because of cap reasons.
