Description
Not going to happen, but this would be the ideal offseason. Lou makes a total of 5 trades adding another trade down move before the draft like he just did weeks ago and then 3 separate trades that unloads all 3 regulars in Lee, JPG and Pulock. Ultimately he has to attach his first round pick and two second rounders to makes the deals as well as 3 million in retention, but still manages to draft 6 players from rounds 2-6. I think our interest in Ehlers is there and that is the trade I think he ultimately makes, although as much as I think Pulock is the perfect swap, I doubt he waives his NTC- but if he is going to, I do think it will be a deal like this where he gets to be closer to home. I doubt the Islanders can pluck DeBrusk away from Boston, but it will definitely take 6+ million and 7 years to make it happen. Carrier might also have to be a bit of an overpay risk to get him inked as well; but I definitely could see him be the target if indeed we do trade away Ryan. We need another puck mover in the worse way. Bringing back Riley seems like a no-brainer and adding youth with Tsypkalov and Tomasino is a nice get and adding veterans in Lomberg and a reunion with DeHaan helps our depth, allowing us to be patient with what few prospects we have- Lou manages to hold on to all of those aside from shipping off Wahlstrom, which seems like a given. This whole plan is a longshot, but overall it gives us two reaching their prime forwards (Ehlers and DeBrusk) and a puck mover (Carrier) with potential and revamping our bottom 6 with some new faces to join Engvall, Cizikas and returning youngsters MacLean and Holmstrom

1.
NYI
  1. 2024 1st round pick (VAN)
  2. 2024 2nd round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
In his second pre-draft move in less than a month, Lou adds another 2nd round pick (#62) by trading down again in the 1st round, this time with Calgary. They trade their 20th pick and add a future 4th rounder in exchange for the Flames' 28th overall selection and the added pick, giving them now three second rounders and 4 overall picks in the first two rounds....
CGY
  1. 2024 1st round pick (TBL)
  2. 2025 4th round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
Calgary sacrifices one of their two 2nd round picks to move up 8 spots and get a future 4th rounder in the process (next years draft)
2.
NYI
Lou makes his first of 3 Draft day trades, sending one of his recently acquired second round picks to unload the contract of Pageau, and yes it takes that high of a pick because of the 2-years and 10 million still owed on his deal. The only reason no retention is required is because only 7.5 million of actual cash is still owed to JPG, who does not have the Hawks on his list of 15-teams in his NTC
    CHI
    1. Pageau, Jean-Gabriel
    2. 2024 2nd round pick (VAN)
    Additional Details:
The Blackhawks are one of the few teams who will be adding contracts and continue to add assets in their rebuild, and adding serviceable players will be their first priority. Pageau is that despite the high AAV and to take it on they insist on a 2nd rounder, the 61st selection in the draft
    3.
    NYI
    1. Ehlers, Nikolaj
    2. 2024 4th round pick (WPG)
    Additional Details:
This trade makes too much sense, assuming Pulock waives his full NTC, which the only way I could see him doing it is if it is a move that gets him closer to home. Lou finally gets his top line winger and immediately extends the 28-year old Ehlers, but also has to part ways with another 2nd rounder (in exchange for a 4th) and find a new home for Wahlstrom
    WPG
    1. Pulock, Ryan
    2. Wahlstrom, Oliver [RFA Rights]
    3. 2024 2nd round pick (DAL)
    Additional Details:
Jets get their RD to pair with Morrissey and ship Ehlers out in the process while also giving Wahlstrom, a former first rounder in his own right; a fresh start. With first year salaries almost a complete match, Winnipeg also gets the better end of a pick swap also in the deal
    4.
    NYI
    1. Tomasino, Philip [RFA Rights]
    2. 2024 3rd round pick (DAL)
    Additional Details:
No, I dont see Lee getting moved or even Lou attempting it (hence the title of this plan) but this would be the ideal scenario. Much like with Pulock, I think it would take a certain situation and with this it is reuniting with Trotz. Lou has to not only has to part with his late first round pick (28)- in exchange for a 3rd rounder- but also send 3 million south to secure the deal. Lee's cap hit may be 7 million per, but only 10.35 million in cash (a little over 5 million) is actual owed to the winger. Lou also gets the talented but disgruntled Tomasino in the deal
    NSH
    1. Lee, Anders ($1,500,000 retained)
    2. 2024 1st round pick (VAN)
    Additional Details:
Nashville takes Lee to replace the departing Zucker and also collects a 2nd first round pick in the process. 5.5 million will be the cap cost on Anders over the next two seasons but the actual cash cost will be less than 4 with in retention the Islanders eat

Hawks would likely take JGP for a 2nd, but they'll want the Isles '25 2nd instead. Pick #61 in this draft is basically an early to mid 3rd based on how weak this draft class is overall.
