I respect the approach. With Kyle Davidson's comments last year being so hard to move up...I tend to think he is inclined to make a move if available. I also think trading the #51 last year for the #54 this year was also...something... You never know what's going to happen the next year.

My larger issue (that simply may not be part of this post) is that IF we move up and spend picks to do so...why aren't we utilizing the $14M in cap space that other teams REALLY need for future picks.

There’s just no way Seattle moves down 10 spots. They don’t have much D depth as their top draft picks have all been forwards. This is a D heavy draft in the top 10. They’re gonna stay put or move down 1-2 spots only if there are several D available they like.

Was thinking that maybe they can slide down 10 slots and still get Jiricek, but yeah you're probably right. Just floating the idea of a move to the 8-12 range for the hawks though, doesn't have to be Seattle. Catton is my guy and that's what I posted here but given the lack of size in the forward pool I could see Davidson agressive to move up for a Senneke or Iginla instead

I don't have any issues with Berkley as a player either. The issue I have is the Hawks have (2) of him already. Moore and Nazar are both flex center/winger at 5'10"-5'11" 175-188 lbs. That is something Kyle Davidson has said he values. It's just that we have that player. Let's wait at least 1 more draft before we select that type of player with our 2nd 1st for the 3rd year in a row.

If the interwebs are accurate...which they never are...sounds like Levshunov and Hage are the guys they'll select.

Catton is the 3rd best player in this draft imo. He's "similar to Nazar you are right but he's everything Nazar is and more. On top of that, if you look at the list of guys with 115+ pts in juniors in their D-1 season it's elite elite company. I think at some point if you have the chance to take a guy like that you just do it and figure out the fit later. It's the same reason I and most hawks fans prefer Demidov to Levshunov even though it seems like that isn't where they are going.
