As a Leaf fan I like this trade, but realistically you're not getting De Haan and a 1st for the package you offered.

Yeah, I think it'd need some tinkering tbh too. Perhaps swapping the 1st for a 3rd could do it?

Definitely more realistic.

These extensions are generally so meaningless. So the Leafs tell Carrick and Bozak "We don't want you anymore, here negotiate with Isles". Then if the negotiations don't come to an agreement, you have to welcome the players back on your team. Isn't that crazy? Same with Dehaan with Isles?
I don't think DeHaan has been playing RHD, but that where you have put him. So let's talk this year, are the Leafs better DeHaan playing out of position, for Bozak and Carrick? And if DeHaan doesn't adapt to the new position now you have for four plus years at 4.75m. Leafs have plenty of LHD, so young and cheap, I just don't see the short term or long term benefit of DeHaan.

I agree with your comments about the extensions. Touchy subject, but money talks. And to the other comments, swapped out CGY 1st with a 3rd would get this done.
