Trade Bura, salary dump Orpik, depth of D prospects you can deal out Siegenthaler and eventually Bowey for what you're bringing back in.

Keep Carlson through season then trade to replenish high picks, as Barrie at $5.5M is a better option than Carlson at north of $6.5M for the rest of eternity.

Eller is playing well, sell high. Stephenson does so much well he's capable to take over than role

Keep Grubi as insurance thru playoffs, then get a couple good picks (pretty much his value)

Into next year you've traded Carlson, Winnik UFA expiring, so you can afford to cheaper re-up DSP and Chiasson, and have money for Beags and Wilson. Then you promote a back-up (Copley / Vanacek) and bring Hobbs or Johansen up to develop another young stud d man...plus you'll have Orlov, Nisky, Barrie, Brodin, and Djoos!!! So there's a ton of depth.

Why would a team trade for Carlson after the season? They can just sign him in FA.

    Like Who?
You think a team will trade away a 1st just in the hopes that Carlson signs with them?
Maybe if negotiation were made beforehand. and maybe for like a 4th

You might get a 3rd or 4th rounder for Carlson at that point. Definitely not a 1st.
