Haven't you demonstrated by your UFA signings why it so it is impossible to trade Ericsson and Helm. For about the same money, teams can sign a better UFA the trade for two overpaid players.

Fair enough, that’s exactly what I did. Lol. The Wings are in trouble until these bad contracts expire. I miss the days when contracts like this could be buried in the AHL. I would still still bury them in Grand Rapids, get the minimum salary cap relief and play the young guys in Detroit. Ericsson is a slug on skates and Abs is an overpaid grinder.

will9739, thanks for realizing why these trades don't or so rarely happen. Folks post these type of trades often, just don't see the futility in it. You're right, those contracts just have to expire and then the Wings will have some cap flexibility. Till then draft properly, and develop your young guys on ELCs
