Description
Habs really need a legit #1C and it will not be Drouin. Forget Tavares, everybody wants him. It was between Seguin and Stastny. Stastny numbers are dipping slightly and he is 5 yrs older, so I went with Seguin. Gave up a lot to get him. Drouin is a smart player, Hudon hustles and Lehkonen is savvy with puck possesion. #2 C Backlund, is a play maker and he is between 2 goal scorers. Gave up Shaw to get Lemieux and a draft pick. Lemieux cost less and is younger. Beagle is 4th in league on face off's, we need that. Wilson adds some meat and a little nasty on 4th. I was tempted to move Weber, only because of his contract but when healthy he is still solid. De Haan or John Moore was my choices for LD on 2nd pairing. Went with De Haan, a little more cost but more solid defensively. Rutta, is a smart D and can do a little of everything. Nielsen, adds hard hitting and solid PK time. Carlson was the big one. He is having a heck of a season and many teams will be after him. I was beginning to get low on cap, so not sure if $6 M gets him. I would prefer this team over our current one.

Why would Dallas do that trade?

Not enough for seguin
Petry is a cap dump - not enough for Lee
Why would a bottom feeder team like Arizona want to give up picks for veteran defensemen?

Then I would sweeten the trade and keep adding until I got Seguin. I would add draft picks and or players. I would try and get him anyways.

adding picks would do nothing, not because it doesn't add value, but because DAL are in a win now mode with their roster, they have ZERO interest in trading Seguin. DAL are more likely to spend picks to add to their roster, not the other way.

I would add more players or picks to try and get Seguin. The Islanders might potentially lose two d-men to free agency, so I thought they would need a puck mover. Could add a player or draft pick there to try and get Lee. If Alzner for a 3rd is too rich then drop him for a 5th round pick. He does not have to go to Arizona. I was just trying to move him. I thought he might fit good there as they have good young d-men, so I thought a veteran presence might help. But Alzner can go anywhere for whatever pick. I was just trying to move him.
