Description
Ok can we have a serious talk about Nikita Zaitsev.
At the beginning of the season he was playing like a monster and was really racking up points and looking very good. Then he started to slow down but I wasn’t very concerned but then he got hurt and ever since he’s come back he’s looked pretty lost.

These past few games he’s really looked completely at a lost. Him and Gardiner as a pairing has really become a liability. Even though Gardiner started to heat up at the beginning of this year Him and Zaitsev just don’t work.

And we have this guy for 7 years (six after this season)

So what are we going to do??

Well honestly I don’t hate the guy, I really think he has so much potential. He’s a great skater and has a nice shot and get throw his body around. However he often doesn’t. Use all of strengths right. He needs to start doing that.

Know granted I don’t think the leafs should trade him but many sit him a few games here and there. He might still be playing hurt Im not sure but he’s really gotta get his head in the game, especially at this time of the year.

Or we can trade him. (But probably should just keep him)

Woah! Don’t rush to say someone’s suddenly not valuable, Stan Bowman! Patience is a virtue.

So what are we going to do??

not panic I hope. he's still just in his second year, not surprising that he'll have some struggles. if he's still struggling badly come playoff time they probably have to consider taking him out of the lineup and then just hope he can turn things back around next year.

We were so concerned about sophomore slumps for all our other rookies last season (Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Brown, Hyman) that I believe people over looked Zaitsev as a player who could. Personally I’m not worried
