Missing Compher and I'd far rather the Avs develop him or Kerfoot at centre than pay Stastny 5 mil per.

No Makar?

Compher over Bourque. Jost as 2C with Sven and JVR, Greer with Kerfoot and Kamenev.

Karlsson will be more than that, JVR too. Mikko might be that cheap, but only if they lock him up before another season like this one.

Bowers or Smirnov should be ready for a look by then. Or Shvyryov if they can convince him to come over.

Compher would be traded as part of the Karlsson deal. Kerfoot isn't big enough to be a Center in the NHL effectively. Jost could be the 2C but isn't ready yet hence you bring Stastny in to play that role for a year or two until Jost transitions to the 2C role, and then Stastny can transition down to 3C and replace Soderberg.

See above. Compher goes as part of the Karlsson trade.

This was mostly done just to point out to folks on another site that the Avs have a massive amount of cap space right now and can afford to add some really good players in the next couple of years. I dont actually want us to trade for Karlsson as I think the cost to get him of Barrie + Compher +, as well as the salary Karlsson comes with, isn't worth it.

Bit early to make that kind of call....I guess Cliff Ronning wasn't big enough to be an effective NHL centre either. Matthieu Perrault hasn't been at all effective. Doug Gilmour wasn't effective because of his size either......the list goes on. Silly to say his size means he won't be effective, judging on his rookie season alone.

The fact you're now including Compher as part of the Karlsson trade illustrates the point you're giving up parts that are valuable for the rebuild as Compher is another option at 2/3 C in the future. The only thing that really makes sense is your comment that Barrie + Compher + , and the cost of Karlsson's salary isn't worth it. It would also severely hamper the Avs resigning other players in the future.

The Avs aren't in a rebuild anymore lol.

And good job, you listed a handful of small forwards who have turned out to be successful Centers in the NHL... Want me to list the dozens of guys who weren't successful and had to either A) Transfer to the Wing or B) didn't cut it in the NHL period?
