Why would a rebuilding Ottawa sell Karlsson for holtby? Makes ZERO sense. Also; Karlsson has a much higher trade value. Goalies trade values aren’t high. The market is so saturated. Very few teams need starting goalies. Goalies are the least expensive position to acquire

I remember a year ago George McPhee said that the most valuable trade commodity in the NHL was left defensemen. He banked up eight of them before this season and was able to trade away.... one.

Positional supply and demand are pretty random. Karlsson and Holtby are both sure hall of famers. Two years of Holtby for one year of Karlsson gives the Sens a new attraction and adequate time to convince him to stick around. They don't need goalies, but some of them asked about Grubauer this week, and Karlsson publicly said he's not offering a hometown discount, which is just dumb and unprofessional. There are a hundred "ifs" in the way of all of these things happening together. Does the team end up okay?

Thanks. Yeah. It might be rough.

On the other hand, with Carlson and Karlsson each lugging the puck up ice for 25 minutes, do they even need Lehner?
