Description
As i sit here watching out my window as my back yard becomes a lake wondering could I stock it with bass?

I had time to put another team together that I hope will bring all of you fellow CFer's much thought and enjoyment.

My basic premise is for the Sabres to become a tougher team to play against by adding a bit of sandpaper and youth to the roster. I normally look to try and snag as many possible draft picks but not with this team.

Washington deal centers around Tom Wilson. I really like the tenacity in which he plays the game. He is an RFA and I am not sure that the Caps can afford to sign him long term. The Sabres can offer him a $3,000,000 and for the his rights the Sabres take on Orpik. This frees up much need cap space for the Caps.

Montreal dumps Schlemko and the Sabres bury him in Rochester. Montreal picks up Pominville (Buffalo retains salary) and gets a 2nd Round pick.

New Jersey deal gives them a up and down the line player in Girgensons and a late pick in exchange for a young C/RW.

The Carolina deal will probably have the Hurricanes fan base screaming no way no way... well I say 'Way' "party on".... Carolina gets ROR, Lehner, Baptiste & Cornel in exchange for Slavin.

I would also sign Griffith, Malone, O'Regan, Kasdorf, Wilcox to 2 way deals and start them in the minors.

As always your positive and negative feedback is welcomed and appreciated!

I can deal with a bit much..... I am willing to overpay to get the right pieces.... I can always subtract.... it is a problem when you are told by CFer's not enough.

What would you think Carolina adds to the deal to make it more balanced in your opinion.

Thanks for the feedback.

I’ll number my thoughts the way you do haha
1. I like that Washington Deal. Wilson has the skill to move up and down the lineup as needed. Not the biggest fan of Orpik taking Guhles spot though

2. I don’t see Buffalo moving Pommers. A 30 point veteran with leadership qualities is ok for a year

3. I’ll combine NJ and Pen deals. I don’t know much about Bastian, but id be ok with both of these deals and we know Botts can do well with the little trades (Scott Wilson)

4.Thats a lot to ask for Slavin imo. He sort of had a down year I think as well. I’d rather just go after Faulk honestly

5. For UFAs... Nelson Deal probably won’t have to be that expensive. I wouldn’t really care for Reaves on this roster. Just get Bailey/Fasching in there. Nash Deal is a little expensive but he probably wouldn’t be a bad bridge for Mitts; what do you think about Filppula or Bozak? I think we could do better than Sateri; I like Ward, Lehthonen, or Bernier splitting with Ullmark

Not a bad job overall with unique ideas!

Always five stars for trading O'Reilly
IMO O'Reilly for Slavin may be close enough. I know from other trades Faulk for O'Reilly seems fair when Carolina adds to the trade, I do not see Slavin as a huge upgrade over Faulk.
I know many NYI CF GM's trade Nelson for Lehner.
I have not seen any trades for Cornel nor Baptiste.

Well that is a casual observation from a Sabre season ticket holder. I am not a scout so I really cannot say for certain if my observations are accurate.

Slavin=ROR really (I could see it), but maybe keep Lehner rights too if needed but u don’t need Baptiste or Cornel.
