Description
Stastny is signed to a four year deal after winning the Stanley Cup in Winnipeg (my pick to win the cup). It's only for four years and will allow the Sabres to use him on the second and third line, as well as use Middlestadt as a second line center or top six LW. 6 million may be an overpay, but it may take an overpay to do it, and he would effectively replace O'Reilly. It's only for four years

ROR is moved to Dallas, Buffalo acquires a top four defenseman, goalie prospect and moves up to 13th overall to select a future solid defenseman.

Minnesota deals a cap dump Tyler Ennis to Buffalo who will be buried in the minors as well as a third round pick (65th overall) and in return, they receive Larsson

I know I am over the cap, BUT, I still haven't decided what additional roster move i'd make to get under whether if it be a buyout or not, there are some things I could do...

Next year, I will have a lot of money freed up

Jake Oettinger is not on the roster, but he's just there to show the goaltending depth

      Could flip Moulson to Carolina for Kruger. Toss in a late pick. If both teams are burying the player regardless, it'll free you up a few million.

      Thank you for taking the time to complete and publish a team. I appreciate the effort that you put into the venture.

      A few thoughts:

      1. Do you really think it is going to cost $1,800,000 a year & a 3 year deal to sign Nelson. I think we should be able to sign him for $1,000,000 - $1,250,000 range. If need be give him a one year prove it deal;

      2. I would love to see Carlsson in the Sabres sweater but I just do not see it happening.... I think there will be other teams willing to pay him (overpay) him $8,000,000 a year. I hope you are right!

      3. Should the Sabres/NYI trades be switched looks like you meant for the Sabres to move up to #10 et al;

      4. I think that is an overpay for Reinhart. I love his game (always have) but he is still an RFA (no where else to go) and his breakout this season was for the last 1/3 of the season that does not justify $5,750,000 and 5 years. How about another one year prove it deal of $4,000,000. The Sabres would still have his RFA rights after the year. If he performs like he did the last 1/3 of the season for 80 games you will have the cap space to pay him $6,000,000 a year for 5 years at that point. Just a thought as that would get you closer to being under the cap;

      5. I have seen quite a few CFer's predicting Hutton to the Sabres. I just do not see it. I can not see the Blues letting him go if he is willing to sign for $2,500,000. I can not see him willing to come to the Sabres since GMBots has stated that Ullmark is the primary goalie for next season or he will at least be getting half of the starts;

      6. Any thought to trying to move Lehner's rights for draft pick &/or RFA or prospect. I think that the NYI or PHA would be interested in swinging a deal;

      7. I think Mittelstadt needs to be playing #3C as far as lines go I would move Stastny to #2C;

      8. Your cap problem will solve itself when Bogo goes on LTIR after the first 5 minutes of the 1st game of the season with another injury;

      Thanks for the team!

      Is Esa Lindell actually top line defenseman good? I'll admit I don't know a whole lot about him, but this deal scares me unless he's the real deal.

      Ullmark is still an unproven goalie in the NHL, so it's not a bad spot for a goalie like Hutton to be in if he wants to fight for a starting gig. It's honestly similar to the Blues' situation, where Allen has been touted as the goalie of the future. I think both Buffalo and St. Louis are ideal spots for him, and it would probably just come down to money and term from there.

      Five stars for trading O'Reilly.
      I think all of your trades are close enough to call them fair.
      I like your UFA signings, My question is do you see this year as an end to the playoff drought or this team as a draft lottery? If you see it as a lottery, we are wasting Mittelstadt and Nylander ELC. BTW, I think you know you can make cap space by going down to 2 GK and 13 forwards, but not enough to get you below the cap. BTW Draisaitl with 75 goals on a team that scored 35 more goals than the Sabres is worth $8,500,000 but Reinhart with 65 goals is not worth $5,750,000?
      Nice job.
