Description
Id like to start by saying this would not actually happen in real life because of all the NMCs.

Columbus trades: I’m sure everyone knows y I did those. Cbj can do a seperate deal if they need to dump Dubinsky or something.

Cgy trade: I tried to find a team in desperate need of a veteran 1C. I thought Monahan could make a great 2C, but Cgy’s not the only team that could make an offer. Other candidates could b Ari (if they were confident in a comeback year), Car (I know Staal’s a 2C, so Toews could b #1), and Mtl (prob not, but maybe if the other JT opportunity closes off).

NYI trade: Isles need a better goalie. We could use their prospects, and they have 2 good prospect Gs. Halak UFA rights have no value in the trade. I just thought the Hawks could sign Halak as a bridge til the prospect Gs are ready.

Tor trade: Tor gets 2 veteran D-men to help them on their playoff runs in the next few years, plus they get a 2019 1st and Sikura for the future. In exchange for all that, we simply take one of their big 3 (IMO the least of them, Nylander) and a rental UFA Defenseman.

Keep an eye on the cap floor. Other than that the trades look decent. Not sure I would trade Kane if you are trading Toews, just cause that leaves cap space. If you keep Kane you still have around 9-10M in space.

Jonathan Toews isn't a #1 C, despite being paid like an elite one. He's been declining over the last 5 years, and still has 5 years at $10.5M per. Calgary doesn't want any part of that. Montreal might, they seem to like massively overpaid guys over 30 on long term deals.

It’s way easier just to sign a FA short term at a ton of money to stay at the cap floor than being at the cap roof. That’s definitely an option to keep Kane, but I wanted the
Panarin-Anisimov-Kane line back together. I just feel Kane wouldn’t be as happy here as he was when those 3 were together.
