I mean.. the value is there possibly but.. we need defence, like literally the guy who will be in his own zone clearing it out, we have offensive D's, OEL is two-way guy and good in his own zone, but in my opinion Leafs need shutdown guys with no other job than clearing the puck out of his zone.

And Tavares signing.. it would KILL Leafs long-term. Trust your own guys.

i agree with the first part of this about the defensive defenseman but signing tavares would not be a bad move

It would. The thing is that it would not be bad for the first 3,4 years maybe but then, even guys on bridge deals get full longterm contracts and with Matthews, Nylander and Marner taking 25mil per the leafs would be in cap hell.

but don't forget that the cap will be rising every year and 35/36 mil in 5 years will probably be around 35 percent of the salary cap. Ya, its gonna be a lot to pay, but its 5 good years at a championship with the back 2 or 3 years of his deal being the only risk. if the cap rises, i think we would be fine
