Description
Dallas cannot miss the playoffs again next year. This team has been on the brink for so long. I think we need to do something to get them back in playoff contention.

Idk what Nichushkin’s contract will look like coming back from Russia, but I propose a 3-yr “bridge” because in 3 years, it will b the last summer he’s going to be an RFA before he’s unrestricted, so if he returns strong, it’ll b the perfect time for him to sign the big extension.

Trades
1.
DAL
    Rights to G Lehner and F S.Reinhart
    BUF
    1. Faksa, Radek
    2. Hansson, Niklas
    3. 2019 2nd round pick (DAL)
    4. 2019 4th round pick (DAL)
    Additional Details:
2nd becomes 1st if Dallas makes 2019 playoffs and Lehner contributes in at least 30 reg season games (start or relief).
4th becomes 3rd if Dallas advances to Conf Finals.
    2 Cond. picks, a 3C, and a RHD prospect for rights to a fringe starting G and a top 6 F.
    2.
    DAL
    1. Dubinsky, Brandon
    2. 2019 1st round pick (CBJ)
    3. 2020 2nd round pick (CBJ)
    Additional Details:
2019 1st becomes a 3rd if Cbj misses 2019 playoffs (so there’s no extreme risk for Cbj in this deal).
    CBJ
    1. Methot, Marc
    2. Spezza, Jason
    Additional Details:
Spezza and Methot can b a rental players to a good playoff team (Though I’m trading them early for cap reasons). I’ll retain on both to make it easy for said team. In this scenario, however, because Columbus has a cap dump for us (and they have a lot of money for next season with a summer to prepare for in 2019), I will not retain on them.
    3.
    DAL
      Rights to de Haan
      NYI
      1. Bayreuther, Gavin
      2. 2020 3rd round pick (DAL)
      Additional Details:
Guy that can play now in exchange for a guy that can play later plus a small pick (de Haan will want money that the Isles don’t want to pay if they’re lookin to resign JT).
      4.
      DAL
      1. 2019 3rd round pick (LAK)
      2. 2019 5th round pick (LAK)
      LAK
      1. Ritchie, Brett
      Additional Details:
Traded at deadline so we have 1 less contract to worry about in the summer.

I’d almost take out the first from Columbus because I can see them marking the playoffs. Also Dubinsky is kinda a cup dump because he makes way too much but he’s still great defensively. Also Spezza and Methot combined make more the Dubinsky. Although I see why we give up the first because Dubinsky has 3 years left and Spezza and Methot are both one year. Honestly I’d rather keep the first and trade Milano because he doesn’t fit the team mold and how we play.

That could work and prob save money if that meant he or Gurianov could replace JvR. Thanks for the comment!

Pretty much this. I'm not concerned about the short-term cap though; it's after next season that we really have to worry. If Milano instead of the 1st is acceptable to Dallas, I'd certainly go for that.
