Description
I have just seen all these JT signings on CF and I am not sure that he walks away from the NYI.

I think the Islanders offer the 8th year at a rate that makes him the highest paid player in the league and he opts to stay in NY.

I built this team around the aspect of JT signing for 8 years. I then dealt for Robin Lehner because I am a fan of Batman. I send Griess to dump his salary and in order to do so move Ho-Sang who the NYI have grown tired of the relationship. Ho-Sang nothing personal we just need a break.

I sign Grabner to be the 3rd line RW and then Reaves to be the 4th line RW.

As always please feel free to leave positive and negative feedback!!!!

I agree that you need to do everything possible to convince Tavares to stay but at 13M per I think you have to let him walk. If he truly wants to stay and build a winner he will accept 8 years and around 11M. You will have to pay Barzal at least 8-9M if Tavares get 13M. Then cap wise you will be in trouble just like my Oilers.

If you have to overpay a guy 13m to sign with your team, he really doesn't want to be on your team...Spending your money elsewhere.
But this post is five star worthy for the reason of acquiring Robin Lehner. " I then dealt for Robin Lehner because I am a fan of Batman"

I appreciate your feedback..... I agree with you that having to pay Brazal in the 8-9 million will have to happen but that is not until 20/21 season. With my signing of Grabner & Reaves to 2 year deals that brings back 4 million in 20/21 that can be earmarked for Brazal. I also think by 20/21 the NYI will have dumped Clutterbuck saving an additional $3.5. There is a total savings of 7.5 plus the 4.5 million under the cap currently. In this example I laid out there has been zero growth factor in the cap from 78 million in 18/19.

I realize that other players will need to be signed who will be RFA's during the period in question.

I really think that there is no way JT is going to give (nor should he) a home town discount to the NYI. He has given them everything he has waiting for Garth to build a winner and that has not happened thus far. If the NYI want to keep him they will have to make him the highest paid player in the league for an 8 year term. I see a desperate team going as high as $14-$15 million a season for 7 years on the open market.

Thanks for the Lehner props I think NYI would be smart to grab him.

In relation to JT we as fans want to think that players really care about 'winning it for the fans' but reality is that it is their business. Apple does not care about their customers when they price the new iPhone X at $1,000. They priced it at $1,000 because that is what the market dictates to Apple that they can get $1,000 for the phone. The same can be said for athletes. The NYI will have to make it about JT being valued as the highest paid player in the NHL for a limited time. Total contract value and ego is what it is about.....

I guess Stamkos never got that memo about contract value and ego two summers ago.
