Description
Pretty well every Armchair roster has the Leafs signing Tavares, which I'm optimistic they can pull off. But I'm also a Leafs fan, so, to quote Louis C.K "why would anything nice happen?" . Dubas seems to target players that no one is paying attention to as well. And no one is talking about Duchene. I know OTT needs him, but there's no way he's staying considering the reasons he left COL. I think if you can relieve them of Gaborik's contract you perk Melnyk's interest. Then you can either Robidas-Island him or buy him out for 19-20. I like Tavares more, but honestly, I think I like Duchene better at 7-8mil compared to Tavares for 11-12mil. This doesn't address the RD but I think they see what they have first and address it at the trade deadline instead. This set up also relieves them of any bonus recapture for the 19/20 season which will be tight.

Now, one would assume that Martin & McElhinney will be shipped out. But where and for what is anyone's guess. My hope? some sort of package with Brown for Rasmus Andersson. But y'know.. why would anything nice happen? (not a slight at Brown, there's just 3 better RW's).

Duchene played pretty well at times for the Sens as the year went on. Going forward, he needs to be a building block for this team, as he is still young with a lot of upside, therefore, I highly doubt the Sens ship him out anytime soon!

Well, you're not wrong, he is a guy they should be building around. However he left the Avs for being a rebuilding team, and the Sens only have him for this 1 season. then he's UFA. They'd be wise to get at least something for him considering what they gave up.
