Description
My view is that we are a couple scoring pieces short of a deep run. So i think with grabbing Hoffman he could make a lethal combo with Wennberg. I feel we’ve never really had a stable 4th line that can defend & our up points i feel this would be the most solid 4th we’ve had. I’ve also got them locked up to two year deals in hope that one of the many guys we have waiting (Texier, Stenlund, Thurkaf, or even Vigneault & Davidsson) are ready to slot in and fill out the lineup. Then the hope is Abramov is ready to go within 2 years and by then we should be able to offload Foligno’s contract in its final year to make cap room for Dubois and make a space for Abramov. Then i feel after this season resign Methot or a better option to a 1 yr deal and when Gavrikov’s deal is finished he could sign over and fill that open spot on our defense.

Then the goaltending. I feel let Korpisalo and Bob split starts and whoever proves it more the other is moved out for some more scoring help to round out our forward depth. With Korpisalo gone that opens the door for Merzlikins now and possibly him to take over for Bob and hopefully Tarasov pans out and is ready by then to back up Merz.

I think those trades are very fair and the signings are good. Also I’d look at moving Bobrovsky because he’s on the other side of 30..... I’d keep Korpisalo because he’s a solid goalie and should be a number one. I don’t like moving Carlsson but it’s needed to get Hoffman. I don’t think Mathot gets resigned or Spezza. The money they make will be dispursed to Werenski and Panarin.

As a Stars fan, I'm thrilled to move on from Spezza and Methot. The thing that really concerns me is the 3 years of $5.85M remaining on Dubinsky's contract. Don't get me wrong, I like Milano, but for us to take the 2-year difference between Dubinsky's contract and the contracts of Spezza and Methot, the Stars might realistically look for Josh Anderson or Oliver Bjorkstrand in return. If Columbus could retain even 1/3 of the contract ($1.95M), the Stars would be more inclined to take Milano.

Overall, I like the concept and I think you are on the right track. I just think that with Dallas having to re-sign Seguin, Faksa, Lindell, Heiskanen, Honka, Pitlick, and some other prospects over the life of Dubinsky's contract that they would look for a slightly more productive return or for Columbus to retain some salary in the deal.

I would definitely be fine with Anderson.

If Methot is resigned it will be for penny’s on the dollar compared to his current deal

Honestly, a top-9 of:

Benn-Seguin-Radulov
JVR (hopefully)-Faksa-Nichushkin
Janmark-Dubinksy-Anderson

would not be bad at all. Giving Dubinsky two young scorers on his wings could revitalize his career, and giving Janmark a stable Center and Right Wing could really propel his already solid young career.
