Underpaying Laine. He is going to get Eichel money if not more on an 8 year deal. WPGs best bet is to bridge Connor to like a 2 year 3.5M AAV deal

Eichel's a centre. I have him pegged for 9-9.5mill at 8years, but hoping and praying he'll follow Ehlers' and Scheifele's example and take a discount. I can get on board with bridging Connor though.

All and all pretty good. Only way the NYI trade happens is if Tavares leaves and if that's the case I don't know that they'd want Little as his replacement. Also NYI doesn't really need old D so likely not interested in Kulikov. EDM trade is very unlikely as well. They need more scoring wingers with top 6 potential not less. Puljujarvi isn't available in that trade and that deal is more likely for just the 10th OA. Still like the way the CAP is managed though and the team gets younger!

This is all predicated on Tavares leaving.
1) If Tavares leaves this team becomes in huge need of a centre. They have 2 1st round picks and this is an offer for a mediocre 2C/Elite 3C without spending a 1st round pick, assuming they think Barzal can play 1C next year, (which he probably can).
2) If Tavares leaves you have two LHD UFA's in or entering their prime, and I have a hard time seeing neither one want to leave for greener (colder) pastures. Especially if we can pay reasonably for a year or 2.

If Tavares doesn't leave, none of this works. That being said there are enough contenders that will offer him somewhere in the neighborhood of 10-12mill.

Eichel already signed an extension for 10m at 8 years
