Description
Get that cap down, draft picks up. Predicated on Stats taking a discount to have a nice long playoff run. Trade up to Vancouver's pick, take the best RHD on the board (hopefully Dobson, and we're set for the departure of Big Buff, down the road.)

So, the Jets let Myers negotiate with the Leafs? Depending on the term and salary, I don't think the Leafs would interested long term Myers. Not enough for the Canucks to drop 18 spots in the first round.

It just depends on if you think Myers is better than Zaitsev or not. Because if you do, then you are trading a 1st and a prospect that I could care less about in terms of future with the Jets (Brooks is from Winnipeg and a friend), for what will be the best RHD on your team. I think given the opportunity Myers would have with the leafs, in playing with Reilly or Gardiner he would resign if the Leafs offer him anything north of 5mill/yr which is not overspending for a top 4dman and PP QB. Myers has been labelled inconsistent only because he has to carry the ball and chain that is Winnipeg's 3rd LHD around. I think he's an excellent offensive dman when his weaknesses aren't magnified by his partner.

As long as Kadri is signed for 4.5mill and is basically a 1C playing 2C and making 3C money, the Leafs are contenders and should be in 'win now' mode. If I was the leafs and I could guarantee an extension, I'd take the trade.

As for the Canucks trade. I chose the Canucks because 7 is where 25, a 2nd and a 3rd stop becoming impossible and become unlikely. I'd prefer the Jets to trade the 1st 2nd and 3rd and jump up the board immediately after 2 RHD's come off the board. Dobson, Bouchard, and Boqvist would all be great pickups by the Jets and would have 3 years to develop into a replacement for Buff.

That’d be an easy yes for me on the Myers deal.
