Description
This is just a thought, but the Jets need to clear some payroll space for guys like Trouba, Connor, Hallebuck, Wheeler and so on. Why not gain some futures and a cheaper younger RD.

Buff was such a tank this season and finally became a leader and a fan fav, gonna take more to pry him out but the offer holds great value

While I am not sure the value is there from the Leafs to begin with, and although he is incredibly physical, a solid leader, with a great point shot, I think the Leafs are better looking elsewhere. Byfuglien has a history of inconsistency when it comes to offense and he's also been known to take dumb penalties and blow things on defense. If I were the Leafs, I'd be much more interested in Jacob Trouba, but even more interested Josh Morrisey. I am not sure what it would take to land either, but I think for the price you have indicated, there are better options out there. Justin Braun would be far cheaper and he's arguable a better defensive defenseman than Buff and still provides you some offense.

Buff isn't getting better, only older and worse. You've overpaid significantly for him and given Gardiner away for nothing. Gardiner is only now walking into his prime, outscored Byfuglien last year and for all you Leaf fans that are hating on Gardiner now.... wait till you watch Byfuglien ever night!
The grass is not greener. Gardiner is younger, cheaper, and better in his own way.

I'd rather the leafs didn't give up so much for an aging and incredibly inconsistent Byfuglien. He's not the answer for the Leafs right hand d problems, plus trading zaitsev would just cause another hole on the right side

Agree with you.. And for from the Jets view if they are serious win mode....they keep Buff too.
Gee, I like that Edmonton trade, would Oilers want to give up that package for one year of Jake? The Leafs would gain 3m in cap space for this year.
The Tanev trade. Let's assume Bracco is never an NHLer, then it's a first rounder for Tanev. Canucks fans think he is worth a heck of lot more (I'm not so sure).
