Description
Any Vancouver or Philly fans feel free to make a counter-offer.

Philly trades one of the worst cost-benefit forwards for a high end middle 6 forward, for the cost of a late first round.

Vancouver trades a dude who really needs a change of scenery for another due who needs a change of scenery.

Buffalo trades a decent RHD prospect for a LHD prospect with bigger risk and higher ceiling.

Next year is going to be a "come to Jesus moment" for the Jets. Wheeler, Laine, Connor is a tuff pill to swallow in one year of signings. If Laine and Wheeler do as well or better and Connor improves, they could be looking at $25M in cap spent just on those 3. They should make one more hard run this year then it's going to be break up the band time.

    Botterill says let's make a deal. I love 6'7" 230 lb defensemen

I highly doubt that. In all likelihood, Connor gets bridged for the next two years while we wait for Buff to come off the books. In a worst, worst, case scenario, the Jets pay Connor, and Laine what they're worth and Wheeler walks. Vesalainen comes in and shows everyone how he managed to put up identical numbers to Laine in Liiga.

Wheeler's two-way game is definitely not overrated, but when you have 91 points and 46 of them come on the power play as a facilitator making a lo-hi read; between Statsny, Scheifele, Laine, and Byfuglien, the numbers are going to get skewed. I wouldn't be surprised if Little put up similar numbers playing on the right half-wall with a similar cast.

That's not going to happen. Trouba is a defensman that has eclipsed 30points once, and never play a full season. If a GM wants to pay a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd AND pay that defenseman 8.1mill, then point me at him so I can have a laugh. That's a lose-lose scenario for both GM's and a black mark on the GM that makes an offer sheet like that. One of the reasons Trouba is so attractive as an RFA for the Jets is because of his relative cheapness. RFA means the Jets are the only team with leverage to sign him for a cheap (relative to other 1RHD's) contract.
