The one, and probably only thing the Sens actually did fix last year was their goaltending issue with Gustavsson..... And you're trading him away?!

there are so many things wrong here.

First off, don't trade our future Goalie and our future 1C, especially not to a Divisional Rival. Second, I don't know where you got that return for Max McCormick from, but you probably can't get a 6th for him. a 2nd and a sixth is beyond unrealistic.

Montreal also does not have space to add a goalie, so that part shouldn't be a big worry.

It looks like the main point of this is that trading a streaky, younger 3C in Pageau and a late 1st to get an older, established 2C in Jordan Staal could make the Sens better because Staal is much more effective in a shutdown role than Matt Duchene.

That part is totally on point, and with a new GM coming in to change the culture on a seriousy low-budget team, I could totally see the Canes taking that deal straight up.

But the Sens had a 2C or two, last year who were pretty good, and were out of the playoffs by the deadline.... so you have to make an argument for how Staal is better than the guys they gave up.

I kind of think the Sens need to change their game plan because they've had a ton of offensively talented guys who don't produce because they don't have the puck.

If I thought they had cap space, real or internal, I'd be talking up Orpik for a 3rd, to go along with Pageau and a 3rd for Staal, and then looking at a coaching change. I hear Trotz is available, although he recently got off a plane in Seattle, so you probably have to get on that pretty quickly.
