Description
Okay this is pretty far out there. Looks crazy, but some of the signed players might want a cup bad enough. I know Statsny would like one. Tavares would like one in Toronto I am sure. Both Van Riemsdyk's would probably swallow the amounts for a cup. Consider Nylander's signing a stepping stone, not a bridge, to a better deal.

Ok - I have seen this floating and it really doesn't make any sense for Tavares. For the team yes, but Tavares is assuming 75m in risk.

Or the other guys for that matter. I am sure some of them are wiling to sacrifice for a cup and take a little less, but term is huge. Like you might be able to get Statsny of 5m, but he's signing for 3+. He's not going to lose 8m because he blows a knee.

What happens if he blows his knee or takes a puck to the eye. These contracts are guaranteed. It's not worth the risk.

I am glad I made your day. That trade was done tongue in cheek, but it did accomplish one thing. It got rid of Gardiner and Zaitsev. I can live with Zaitsev, but Gardiner's got to go.
