The Steve Mason trade is a step in the right direction.

Sure is, as much as I'd love to see them take a run at the Cup with Price, Weber and Pacioretty, it just ain't going to happen. But all these players have such huge trade value still that I'm sure they could swing a quick rebuild.

Panthers decline as Tippett isn’t available in a trade for Patches, maybe Panarin but not Patches

Lol, who'd trade Panarin for an unproven prospect whose ceiling isn't even expected to be higher than Panarin's ? Anyway, that's not the point: for their core players Habs should be able to get a bunch of quality prospects to kickstart the rebuild, Tippett or no Tippett.

Obviously Tippett wouldn’t be the only piece going back in the Panarin trade. I’m says for Patches I wouldn’t give him up as the value for Patches will continue to decline if he continues to nix trade by not signing an extension
