I kinda disagree with some of the trades, but that is subjective (I did post a few minutes ago). Why is this really cap hell? Yes the Leafs are depending on Dermot, Liljegren and Borgman, but why that's would good teams do, develop young players on their ELCs or first RFAs. Still if the worse scenario is the the Leafs have to trade a good player such as Nylander, and get good value in return. Hardly cap hell at all.

It's unbelievable.

People's definition of 'cap hell' is clearly different from others. Apparently the Leafs have been in cap hell since the cap has been in existence because...according to most...cap hell is having a roster close to the cap ceiling.

The leafs don't have one contract on their roster that would be considered 'immoveable'. Will they need to be creative to get everyone signed...sure. But it's an enviable position to be in when you have so many great assets that you need to decide what to do with them all.

I would hardly call that cap hell. I consider cap hell more when you are up against the limit and have terrible contracts you can't get rid of. The Leafs don't have a single contract they couldn't get rid of if they wanted to. Plus the cap is just going to keep rising so in a few years the Tavares/Matthews/Marner/Nylander contracts won't look so bad. When Crosby and Malkin signed their contracts it was a pretty high percentage of the cap but now they look like steals. Signing Tavares for 11 million is a discount seeing as he could have gotten at least 13 million. I'm not too worried about it.
