Pens wouldn't have to give that much up for Patches. He's a UFA, Hags and 2020 3rd would get it done.
awesome liked this.

Hagelin is a cap dump so the 4th and the 7th are to entice MTL to take him. Basically, you're saying Pacioretty for PIT '19 first round pick (surely between #22 and #31)...He's worth that low in your head? I mean, isn't he in the top10 for goals in the past 5 seasons in the NHL? Isn't he just turning 29 years old? You definitely went with your dreams more than with reality. Habs are clearly asking for Daniel Sprong, a first and more, JUST FOR PACIORETTY. If you add Hagelin to make it fit under the cap, then you need to add more for the deal to be accepted.

hagelin is not a cap dump at all, he is a key player for Pittsburgh, adding hagelin makes it overpaying rather than needing to add more. Pens would be nuts to give up that much for pacioretty.

Hum...trading for him now means you have him for a full season. Look for yourself, in pasts years, what that type of players were obtained for. You'll be surprise...since you clearly doesn't understand players values. And come on with Hagelin, he's worth nothing. 4M for an average 4th line player...and don't tell me "yeah but he's damn fast!" so what?? He's definitely not using it right, look at him play and look at what he accomplish recently. He's a cap dump, nothing more

Disagree on the Hagelin thing. He is still a good middle six forward and can be a tenacious forechecker and defender. A playoff team with cap space for just this season would likely be interested (Winnipeg, Toronto, Vegas).

This is similar to where Ottawa was able to take Ian Cole in the Brassard trade and flip him for a 3rd.
