Description
If EK comes to a contract agreement with Tampa, the Sens will almost be forced to take Tampa's trade offer. If they decline, EK isn't going to be looking for another team, so he would stay a Senator. He would be traded some time as a rental, not as signed player.
Here's my thought. Callahan is a cap dump. Agrees to go to Rangers
Ottawa has to take long term cap in order for EK and others to be signed for Tampa for 2019/20 and beyond

This makes no sense. 9D and 9F? You literally traded your 2nd/3rd line, 2 good prospects and a 1st for 1 guy? That is ludicrous. If you want Karlsson it should be something like:

    To NYR:

Callahan, Smith (or Ryan) and Foote

    To Ott:

2020 1st, Sergachev, Johnson and maybe Dotchin and someone from NYR or a pick

    To TB:

    Karlsson

i do not see Tampa trading dotching, they need someone to be 2nd line RD when stralman and giradis contract expire (i do not expect Tampa to re-sign them as they will be in they mid 30s) Raddysh is most likely propect being traded with sergy..and Johnson got a FULL NTC he is not waiving it to go to OTT.

Well, I think it does make sense. In order to fit EK into Tampa cap next Killhorn and Johnson has to come to Ottawa. Ottawa really has no leverage in this EK scenario. So EK makes a contract deal with Tampa, Ottawa and Tampa then negotiate a trade. If Ottawa say no, EK isn't going to looking to be make an deal with another team. He knows his value he will receive in Tampa as a UFA next summer. If Ottawa doesn't accept Tampa's offer they have EK and can only trade him as a rental. By allowing EK to negotiate with other teams, Ottawa has boxed themselves a trade deal with Tampa and Tampa only. Dorion and friend have lost leverage and really what other teams would be offering more than I suggested.

Thanks for the Johnson NTC comment. You're right, he wouldn't waive
