Description
With reports that Bergevin has essentially told Patch he's not going to be a Canadien, what would it take for Boston to get him?

The way I see it, Montreal has lost all leverage in trade talks. They've said they want to trade him, and have told him they won't resign him. So why would teams give up a haul for someone they could just fight for in free agency.

Give them McQuaid to make the slight room needed to fit the 4.5 Patch carries, then give a NHL ready prospect and a mid round pick.

Obviously teams might start a bidding war for Patch, but I wouldn't want to give much more to get him, and if the price is much higher than this, than the Bruins shouldn't bother.

Bergevin does seem to like bottom pairing stay at home defencemen.

But this would get him fired for sure. LOL

Even though the price wont be very high, itll probably be higher than that.

Patches is a legitimate 35+ goal man, and regardless of the comments by the Canadiens he will command a decent return. Probably gonna have to give up a higher upside prospect and a 1st or 2nd rounder, especially if youre including McQuaid.

On top of all that, Boston is a division rival. As unwise as Bergevin is, he knows enough to either avoid trading a player of Pacioretty's caliber to a rival, or ask for a lot in return for him.

Dont get me wrong, I think Patches would fill our need of a scoring winger, and I'd love to get him, but I just dont see it happening in that deal. Either we overpay to get him now or take our chances in free agency next year. With other wingers like Skinner available now, I'd rather sit out on Pacioretty until the summer.

1st - MTL and BOS don't trade lol. So that pretty much ends this one

2nd - IF they ever did a deal around Patches, you're looking at a 1st + young NHL player + prospect

The best piece you're offering here is a tie between Cehlarik and a 3rd rounder. Trust me at the TDL there will be a GM that feels like Patch's is the missing pieces and they'll offer a much greater and valuable package.
