If VGK isn’t willing to give Hague up for Karlsson they sure aren’t willing to give him up for Pacioretty.

You are retaining money for the sake of saying so. None of these salary retentions provide any real value to the team's (except for LA) or help improve the return for MTL..

You Hague isn’t their top prospect. It was Glass they didn’t want to give up for Karlson. Hague is in the prospect range for Montreal to ask for in a Pacioretty trade.

You're right ahah. My point was that these players are on a 1year left contract (except Schlemko) and that Montreal has the cap space to retain salary if needed. If Dallas or Vegas get Karlsson for example etc. Thanks for the feedback!
