IMO, Nylander wants a bridge. Leafs have a little cap left to make a trade later in the season.

The biggest bridge deal ever signed was Kucherov 3 years at 4.766M$ per, less than 2 years ago. Kucherov then > Nylander now. So I could see Nylander getting bridged, but for 3 years (100% sure) and for nothing more than 4.766M$ per (which would be a little less than Kucherov, in cap hit %). That would be the best bridge deal he could/should ever get, unless Dubas is an idiot, which I absolutely don't think he is.

I went on the high $$$ side of the bridge to show I wasn't a homer and was just trying to cheat on the cap. I really don't like a three year bridge cause it brings Nylander just one year away from being a UFA. hence the two year.

Looks good. The only problem is next year, when Matthews gets a $9+ million raise. Plus re-signing Kapanen, Johnsson, and especially Marner.

I mean look at how Stevie Y dealth with the Kucherov situation...a repeat of it with Nylander would be the PERFECT scenario for TOR. You give him 3 years and resign him long term after the second year. If he keeps up that level of play, he might get 7-8 years at 8-8.5M$ then. Because signing him long term NOW, he shouldn't get more than 6-6.25M$ per for 6-7 years. The Kucherov route is a win-win for both sides.

Well I posted next years. Gardiner and Hainsey gone....that's 7m, though the two positions have to be replaced. This year the Leafs are having a carrying over 2.8m in 2017/18 in Perf Bonus. I've included the 2018/19 4.5 m and Horton 5.3m on the roster. That's an addition 12.6m in free money next year. 12.6m plus 7m....Leafs will be fine next year for cap. Don't know why so many folks think the Leafs can't sign their own players coming off ELCs, other teams can.
