If the Leafs and Nylander do not agree to a contract then Nylander cannot play for the Leafs, but they still own his rights. If they do not sign him by December 1st, he is not eligible to play for the remainder of the season, and must either be signed or qualified by July 1st, 2019.

So to answer your question, no to both.

Hate to be negative, but there is zero chance Nylander doesn’t resign. Whether for 8 years or 1 he will resign. Negligible chance he returns to Europe unless a Russian billionaire offers home 15 million paid upfront.

I understand he most likely will resign and I want him to. The reason I did it like this is because there is no way to be 100% sure he will.
