Description
Its pretty simple, Pcacioretty and Wheeler have been in the league the same amount of years. Until 3 years ago Wheeler didnt produce as much as Pacioretty(close but not quite) then he got a #1 center and his point totals continued to rise. He is 2 1/2 years older then Pacioretty and just got that contract, this contract is what Paciorettys agent will use as the bar to sign his client.

man I love Patches but you can't compare him to Wheeler.. especially after last season for both of them. Total opposites of the spectrum. I can't see Pacioretty hitting 8 mil.. 7.7 or 7.8 maybe. I could totally be wrong though. I know its 1 bad season but teams will justify Paciorettys performance last year against him in contract talks. Same as Wheeler got over paid because of the amazing season he had.

This is why Maxs agent is pushing for a trade though. Before Scheiffle came to Wheelers side he didnt produce at the same level as Pacioretty, then he got a number 1 center. Walsh wants that to happen for Pacioretty, get him with some actually talented players, him have a great year and cash in.

should be talking to Philly and Buffalo then, grab some of their young talent. I agree though.. put him beside an amazing Center and he scores 40 goals for a joke.

Yeah but wheeler was a late bloomer. I always thought he had good hands when he was here in boston and his game kinda reminded me of Joe Thornton but I doubted he'd ever get that good. We'll he's pretty good and yeah the agent can argue patches getting that contract next season but he needs to put up his 35 goals and 70 points this season too do it. If he just has a good year 25 and 55pts he is going g to get those second tier contracts not the big cash.

Wheeler just put up 112 points last year (playoffs included).

The most Pacioretty had ever put up in one year (playoffs included) is 74 points.

Wheeler just had a career high season, pacioretty just had his worst season of his career - so how is this a comparable?
