Description

Trouba clearly doesnt want to be in Winnipeg long term so they deal him to get something back that can help them this year and in the future. They are loaded with Right shots and could use a left shot like gardiner to who provides plenty of offense. They also get Hyman whos very similar to Copp but signed for a few more years at what Copp could cost or less even given what Copp could ask for so they get some cost certanity with adding him.

Obviously from a Leafs perspective they get a top pair right shot d man they lack to pair with Rielly.

Trouba is a RFA so similar to Gardiner in that he needs a new deal as well next year. He’s gone to arbitration twice already so does he and Winnipeg want to go again? And Gardiner is not actually bad at d like some people say. Sure he’s no elite d man like doughty but over the last 3 seasons Gardiner has 248 more chances for then against according to Corsica which says something about his defence to me. Hyman also may not be a top line guy but very solid 2/3 line complimentary player for sure I’d say. Which is what Copps upside is if he keeps developing I think.

The dealcould use some tweaking but I think there is a deal to be made here

Not true at all about gardiner his defensive numbers are actually really good both basic and advanced, ufa yup that parts right on. Would think he stays with us and walks at the end of the year.

Trouba is useless to us. He will not sign in Canada. His father can’t enter the country. That is why he is trying to get on an American team.
