Jets decline pretty quick.

Most likely, Jets don't accept. My thought was that if no other teams make a better offer, the Jets could snag a 1st round pick that's likely in the top 6 overall selection if Trouba resigns with Detroit (which probably happens on Feb 21st!). It also makes some cap space for the Jets to sign Laine and Conner the following off-season without having to worry about Trouba's contract getting in the way and then walking for nothing.

Makes sense for Detroit, but not for WPG. They do need middle 6 offense, and while Nyquist would be a good rental for them, I suspect the return would be as a pick, and not a top prospect/player. They need to shoot for the SCF this year, and taking away a top 2-3 Dman isn't how you do it. If you wanted to stretch it a little with a player, you could see Dano and a 2nd for Nyquist and a 5th maybe.

Also, Vermette is useless for this team. AA will be your 3rd line center (and has looked really good doing it this preseason), and Glendening the 4th line center. Ras will take some rotation later this year at C (he played the 3rd period of last Saturday's home preseason game vs Boston at center).

Holland's chance to get Trouba was in July when he could've sent an offer sheet. Trouba may be in Detroit when he becomes a UFA.
